The Lord took away her pain and sorrow and gave her comfort and strength to bear more children. She poured out Her heart before the Lord in such a way that even the High Priest thought that she was drunk. Hannah, for example, was barren, and she cried out to God, and He gave her a son. In the word of God, there are numerous testimonies of righteous people who, after waiting upon the Lord, had their prayers answered. For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we, through the patience and comfort of the scriptures, might have hope. Others may compromise their faith for earthly gain, but know that your reward is greater. When Christ talked about mourning here, He referred to those who mourn not because they have done evil and are suffering because of it, but those who mourn because they are afflicted for doing good and being faithful to God. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. He has said, “a broken and a contrite spirit, I will not despise.” Go before him with humility bearing all the pains in your heart before Him. Whenever you encounter sorrow in your life, always remember that God in His word has promised you that He will wipe every tear from your eyes. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Isaiah 43:2 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed perplexed, but not in despair persecuted, but not abandoned struck down, but not destroyed. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea. God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. When you are facing a new kind of trying time, keep these promises from Scripture close by for encouragement, reassurance and hope for the days ahead. And yet, these times-personal or collective-can also reveal a resiliency and strength unknown. They can test us and stretch us beyond our own limits of possibility. Times of disaster bring uncertainty and fear. ![]()
